Me n atheism II

Its long since I  wrote something. I have promised for the continuation of my post Me n Atheism and as usual my laziness haven't allowed me since then. Now that I have bored of getting bored I thought let me resume my blog.

Once I joined college the regular visits to temples stopped, then I used to visit temples only because my mom used to force me. I started reading books, a lot of books and I was thinking what is this real concept of God!
Why there is a temple and inside it one idol is there? I read somewhere everything written in Hindu scriptures symbolizes something. The temple is a symbolic representation of human body. Temples are always kept neat and tidy. That points to the fact that we should keep ourselves neat and clean. The idol inside the temple represents the soul inside you. That meant something sensible to me.

Then this main turning point happened. I heard of the word  "Thathvamasi". What is Thathvamasi? Its written in the main entrance of Sabarimala temple but how many of them visiting knows the meaning of the word. I began my research as usual and came to know that the meaning of the word  is "I reside in you" . Means the God whom you are searching in temples actually reside in you. The temples are just a symbolic representation for you to understand that the God is there inside you search him there .In Indian culture we are taught to respect others .We are made to touch feet of others if we accidently touch them with our feet. That I think is done to respect the God inside others and that we shouldn't to disrespect that God with the touch of our feet.

So friends what do you think?  Do you think going to temples and spending money on the poojas or standing in long queue in the temple makes you nearer to God? By the way if you are ready to pay extra few bucks you can do special poojas and spend more time near the idol, in almost all reputed rich temples.

I watched this Bollywood movie Oh my God! Really its an eye opener to all those who blindly believe or are scared of God. But even though we folks watch such movies once out of the theatre the theme and the message is forgotten by the fear that if I believe in such ideologies maybe God will get angry and I may get more sorrows and misfortune.

Don't you think making yourself a better person, a good citizen, a helping hand to others will make your soul purer? Don't you think respecting others is equal to respecting the God residing in them?Do we still have to be scared and run to numerous temples and do pooja to numerous Gods just to bring fortune to our lives? Are we missing the important message the temples are giving? When will we start looking into ourselves and say "Thathvamasi"!!!!
